Chemistry Division
conducts research on plant nutrition
and soils, besides offering analytical service
to the industry, sampling of soils, plant parts,
fertilisers and plant protection chemicals are
analysed for the member estates.
The
Entomology
Division include studies on
the biology, ecology and control of insect and
mite pests. Assessment of crop loss due to major
pests, establishment of economic threshold levels,
microbial control, semio chemical and pesticide
evaluations are the other areas of research.
The
Plant
Pathology division carries
out research on disease control, physiology of
parasitic and saprophytic micro organisms associated
with tea plant and soil microbiology.
Plant
Physiology division primarily
concentrates on the basic aspects of tea bush
physiology, biotechnology and molecular biology.
Tea
Technology division
conducts research on quality improvement besides
offering analytical services to the industry.
Division also conducts studies on tea processing
with objective of improving the quality.
