Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district records 735.30 mm rainfall as downpour continues

COONOOR: Rains coutinues to pound The Nilgiris on Sunday, with the district recording 735.30 mm of rainfall in 24 hours ending at 8.30 am. Devala received the highest rainfall of 103 mm followed by Avalanchi 93 mm, upper Bhavani 53 mm, Gudalur and Naduvattam 49 mm each and Pandalur 47 mm.

Russia-Ukraine war impacts India’s fertilizer imports and tea exports, Kerala too face heat

Urea, potash and complex are widely used for agricultural activities in Kerala. India relies on countries like Ukraine, Russia and Belarus for these fertilisers. 16-16-16 complex fertilizer is sourced from Russia, urea from Ukraine and potash and salt with reduced sodium content are sourced from Belarus. They reach India through Thoothukudi and Mangaluru ports.

Upasi conducts first level screening of teas for Golden Leaf India awards

The first level screening of teas for the 17th edition of The Golden Leaf India Awards (TGLIA) organised by UPASI was held on Saturday at Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. A 3-member panel comprising Koshy Panicker of J. Thomas & Co. P. Ltd, A. Noor Mohamed of Paramount Tea Marketing (SI) P. Ltd, and Thomas Mathews of Forbes & Co evaluated the teas that had entered the competition.
